Melbourne Day 1
Writing this as I cruise along Collins St on a tram out to IKEA. Yesterday was one very busy day and I absolutely loved it.
The flight to Melbourne was hassle-free, until I got there. I figured something was up after three rotations of the baggage carousel and no sign of my luggage. After checking with Baggage Services I was advised, and asked “Oh we put it on your connecting flight to Townsville … wait, shouldn’t you be on that flight?” After explaining the idiocy of flying from Brisbane to Melbourne only to turn around and go to Townsville, she agreed to lodge a report. My bags arrived late last night an were delivered to the hostel.
During the day however I went shopping for some clean clothes and a wall around the city. I picked up a PO Box, so if anybody would like my new postal address let me know. I had my first housemate interview for the Windsor house. The place was amazing, housemates friendly and very easy to get to. I find out later today if I have been successful.
The big story of yesterday had to be the heat. I don’t think I’ve ever been in 43.4°C heat before, but I coped surprisingly well. I was wandering about the city all day and was fine. In Brisbane the humidity saps all life out of you, and you can barely function past 33°. I’m glad I’ve left that humidity behind. Case in point: running for a train at 10pm in 38° and never breaking a sweat.
Managed to catch up with some friends, enjoyed a few beers, some awesome pizza and later some beautiful scotch. It was an awesome start to a new chapter, and I’ll do my best to keep you all in the loop!
